FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where is Aquila Eco Retreat located?

We’re located at 739 Brinktop Road, Richmond TAS 7025, Australia.

Nestled in the Coal River Valley wine region, you’ll enjoy glamorous seclusion while being conveniently close to Richmond and the Hobart area.

2. What type of accommodation do you offer?

We offer a couple of unique off-grid, luxury stays:

  • Glamping tents – beautifully appointed, comfortable, immersed in nature.
  • Eco-pods – ultra-sustainable, modern design with all the stylish comforts you expect.

Each stay is designed for you to “disconnect” in style and “re-connect” with nature.

3. What does “off-grid” mean in your context?

Off-grid means you’ll be staying somewhere powered by the land and sun, with minimal reliance on standard mains utilities. We’ve embraced sustainable design without compromising on comfort.

You’ll still have hot showers, a lovely bath (hello claw-foot tub on the deck!) and the essentials for a great stay.

4. What sort of amenities can I expect?

  • Private deck with views over rolling hills and the valley.
  • Claw-foot bath for a bath with nature’s soundtrack.
  • Wood-fire sauna (for selected accommodations) and fire-pit.
  • Comfortable bedding, stylish interiors, mixed with rustic nature.
  • Wireless still works (yes, even off-grid) and you’re close enough to civilisation if you need to pop out.

5. Is the retreat suitable for couples, families, or groups?

Absolutely! The romantic, secluded vibe makes it perfect for couples looking to escape. Depending on the accommodation you choose, it can work for small families or groups too—just check the room descriptions and capacity when you book.

Need something specific? Drop us a line and we’ll help you figure out the best option.

6. How do I get there and is it easy to access?

You’ll drive to the property via Brinktop Road in the Coal River Valley region. While we’re tucked away in nature, access is straightforward.

If you’re flying in, the nearest major hub is Hobart. From there you’ll drive to Richmond and then out to us.

We can provide detailed directions when you book—we want the “how to get here” part to be fuss-free.

7. What is your booking/cancellation policy?

Standard practices apply: when you select your dates and confirm the stay, your booking is locked in. If you need to cancel or change dates, please check the terms at the time of booking (these may vary by offer or season).

8. Are there any special packages or seasonal offers?

Yes—we often run special stays, wine region experiences, couples packages, and seasonal promotions.

Keep an eye on our Packages section and blog for the latest deals.

9. What experiences or nearby activities are available?

  • Enjoy a picnic among the vines in the Coal River Valley.
  • Explore the local region: historic Richmond village, wineries, walking trails.
  • Relax onsite: fire-pit stargazing, sauna, the deck bath.

10. Is the property dog/pet-friendly?

Please check with us at the time of booking. Some off-grid stays in natural settings have restrictions for pets (for safety, wildlife, and comfort reasons). We’ll clarify what’s allowed.

11. Is the site accessible for all guests / people with mobility needs?

We are committed to accessibility and inclusive hospitality. Please let us know your specific requirements when booking so we can ensure a comfortable stay and assist with any special access needs.

12. What should I pack for staying off-grid and in nature?

Here are some suggestions:

  • Comfortable shoes for walking around the property and nearby.
  • Warm layers – even though Tasmania is lovely, evenings can get cool.
  • Swimwear if you’re planning a sauna or relaxing outside.
  • Your camera – the views are worth it.
  • A small torch/flashlight can be handy at night (though we’ve lit paths).

If you’re planning any special gear or extra activities, check with us ahead.

13. Do you accept special occasions like anniversaries or small weddings?

We love celebrating special moments! If you’re planning an anniversary, romantic getaway, or small ceremony, let us know and we’ll help tailor something memorable.

14. Are kids welcomed?

Yes, kids are welcome in certain accommodation types. Please check age/sleeping configuration details in the listing, and feel free to ask about bunk-beds, child-safe areas, or any extra charges for children.

15. How do you support sustainability?

We practise what we preach: being off-grid, harnessing solar power and natural resources, protecting the land, and offering luxury that doesn’t cost the earth. It’s all about respect for place, minimal footprint, and maximum experience.
