Aquila Eco Retreat is powered by a sophisticated off-grid solar power system, supported by generous battery storage. This system provides power across the retreat, allowing guests to enjoy a peaceful, comfortable and luxurious stay while reducing reliance on conventional grid electricity.

Since opening, Aquila’s solar power system has helped reduce carbon emissions by approximately 15.5 tonnes – the equivalent of planting around 1,247 trees.

We are deeply passionate about this land and the natural resources the earth and sun provide. It’s our pleasure to share these values through off-grid glamping and eco experiences that offer ultimate luxury and comfort in a unique country setting of space and freedom.

We pay respect to the original owners of our land, the Moorairremener people. We acknowledge the current disadvantage that exists for First Nations cultures with a personal intention to continue learning and doing better.

Aquila is a reflection of us. We have invested our creativity and passion into creating this one-of-a-kind space. You will see our inspiration all around you – the bird photography, native gardens, woodwork, winemaking and honey production – we embrace our natural environment.

From our landscaped gardens with locally-made sculptures atop magnificent recycled timber beams to our rescued parrots now enjoying a peaceful life in aviaries, we celebrate our surroundings.

Around every corner, through every gate and within each eco-pod and the glamping tent, Aquila celebrates upcycled creativity.

Sustainable living is at the heart of the Aquila experience. We are proud to employ a ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ philosophy in everything we do. We rely exclusively on solar power, choose locally made as much as possible, and give back to the precious environment in which Aquila makes its home.

Stayed at AQUILA Eco Pod in Richmond for 3 days with my wife right after completing the Three Capes Track, and it was exactly what we needed. Peaceful, well-designed, and surrounded by nature, the perfect place to slow down and recharge. Waking up to the views and quiet mornings was a highlight. Simple, comfortable, and thoughtfully done. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a restful escape.
