Alice and Jason
Welcome to our patch of paradise. We’re Alice and Jason and our family has been farming this piece of Tasmanian country for decades.
Aquila is named after the Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle (Aquila audax fleayi), which we often see soaring over our land. These striking birds connect us to the space. They seem to know and watch us, just as we admire them. We hope that you will also be lucky enough to have these special birds pay a visit during your stay at Aquila.
We are deeply passionate about this land and the natural resources the earth and sun provide. It’s our pleasure to share these values through off-grid glamping and eco experiences that offer ultimate luxury and comfort in a unique country setting of space and freedom.
We pay respect to the original owners of our land, the Moorairremener people. We acknowledge the current disadvantage that exists for First Nations cultures with a personal intention to continue learning and doing better.
“for years Aquila was this far away idea,
but now it’s a living breathing thing that we still pinch
ourselves over when we think about it.”
BE passionate
an idea
comes to life
Aquila is a reflection of us. We have invested our creativity and passion into creating this one-of-a-kind space. You will see our inspiration all around you – the bird photography, native gardens, woodwork, winemaking and honey production – we embrace our natural environment.
From our landscaped gardens with locally-made sculptures atop magnificent recycled timber beams to our rescued parrots now enjoying a peaceful life in aviaries, we celebrate our surroundings.
Around every corner, through every gate and within each eco-pod and the glamping tent, Aquila celebrates upcycled creativity.

sustainable living
Sustainable living is at the heart of the Aquila experience. We are proud to employ a ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ philosophy in everything we do. We rely exclusively on solar power, choose locally made as much as possible, and give back to the precious environment in which Aquila makes its home.
